WINFIELD SETTLER'S TOWN LEGACY (INTRODUCTION)

 CHAPTERS

                                                 INTRODUCTION

Here's the town center of Winfield where the shopping plaza is located.Winfield is in Missouri along the banks of the Mississipi River and almost 100 miles north of St.Louis.There was an earlier attempt to settle the area that ended with 1813 New Madrid earthquake.

The New Madrid Earthquake had caused the Mississippi to suddenly reverse it's flow and to start flowing north for a few hundred miles along Missouri and that went as far north as Winfield and caused extensive flooding in the area at that time and forced locals to leave.

The town of Winfield also intended to have a community garden with Garden House located out on Fern Road near where the first settlers to arrive would be living on an empty lot until they got their house built. The work being done in the night insured it was ready.
