               CHAPTER-31 (EARLY WINTER) DAYS-31-35

The town residents of Winfield in the Ivanovitch and Jankowsky families were all ready for winter when it arrived overnight as they were sleeping in their bed or sleeping bags. They all knew that winters could be very harsh because of the expriences they'd all had back in the old country of Russia where both families came from.
The residents all woke up to a lear sunny morning on that Tuesday morning as winter was starting up in the town of Winfield,Missouri. They all knew that the year of 1853 was coming to a close since it would end with the arrival of spring and of the new year of 1854.They were all getting set up for the day in their homes and tending to chores for each household.
Tanner and Tracy Ivanovitch were both thinking about how they had needed to get into heavy coats with their outerwear not that winter had arrived and it would get very cold. They had gotten a pet lizard at that time and were having to take care of it and make sure it was getting enough food and attention each day. There were other changes taking place around the town and there were things like statues being placed around town.
The staues got placed in Shopping Plaza and another one was placed in Civic Plaza for the town to enjoy. It was going to remain cold and dry for the first few days of winter and could suddenly turn very cold and damp which would bring snow to town.
The town had been trying to get supplies shipped in during the fall before winter arrived so nobody would starve or run out of food though they might ned up having to live on spoiled leftovers towards early spring until they got crops growing and could harvest produce for cooking their meals. They would have the option of using quick meals though those had to be saved for when all other food ran out to feed them until harvest.
Eli and Ami Jankowsky had gotten up early and were tending their chores like the other residents were on the Wednesday morning while it was very cold and dry with frost on the ground though it still wasn't snowing yet and looked like it might not snow at all that winter though it had just started.
Eli and Ami were still making sure to take care of Racer every day and to see that he got fed twice each day with a bottle until he grew up and could eat hay. They both knew that the first few days of  winter were passing themby very quickly and that it didn't always start to snow for the first few days in the winter even if there was to be any snow that winter. That didn't mean that snow always delayed for a new days before coming.
They were still waiting for snow by the time winter was onto it's third day which had dawned clear and sunny though it was a little more damp than before and it started getting colder as the day progressed. They all knew what that meant and it meant one thing was about to happen. It was a sign of a blizzard coming and it could hit at any time during that day so they all got into outerwear meant for snow because the snowstorm was due to hit at any time.
Tanner and Tracy ended up having a very busy day and they both stopped to put snowsuits on as they got ready for work in case the snow started while they were at work. They had made it through their day until the afternoon without it snowing and that was clearly about to change very soon since it was damp and getting colder fast with the temperature falling very rapidly and likely to get to -20 degrees with a wind picking up.
It began to snow very lightly as the evening progressed and it almost caught Tanner and Tracy off guard and the Jankowskys were caught slightly off guard and forced to rush home and get their outerwear updated in a massive rush before it got too deep and became a problem for them that trapped them away from home. The light snow flurries ended up quickly turning into a raging blizzard as the night progressed and caused 2foot drifts.
Eli and Ami Jankowsky were up to find it was still snowing very hard and likely to continue snowing very hard for the rest of the day as they studied and got ready to get to work later on that day.Racer was also having fun with the snow once he began to know what it was. They also knew that the river was beginning to get locked up in ice because it was so cold the water in the Mississippi River started to freeze up and would remain frozen for the season.
The snow storm got more violent during the night as the harsh winds picked up and the temperature began to take a nosedive as this was happening because it was -30 degrees the next morning. The residents of Winfield were worried about the French tourists staying in town for a visit who might be stranded by the cold weather. They were also hoping the temperature would keep falling because that could turn deadly if it fell too rapidly.
Tanner and Tracy Ivanovitch were both reading in the paper about how The towns along the Mississippi were all starting to report residents missing who'd gone missing in the blizzard over the past day on grocery runs into town who disappeared and failed to show up in town or at home. There were reports of wagon trains shipping supplies to a town getting lost and being missing and reports of men and women who'd gone to help neighbors going missing in the blizzard.
The temperatures in Winfield had continued free falling all day and it was down to below -40 degrees outside and mercury in the thermometers was getting frozen by the extreme cold.
